With such a diverse product range, Blas ar Fwyd needed a flow wrapping solution capable of handling products with varying shapes, sizes, and textures while maintaining product appearance and shelf life. In particular, their pies, quiches, and pasties required wrapping with perforated film to allow the products to breathe while remaining attractively presented.

The Solution
Blas ar Fwyd first discovered our flow wrapper at the Foodex Exhibition at Birmingham NEC, where they saw the machine in action. Impressed by the initial demonstration, the team arranged a visit to our facility for a more detailed evaluation. To ensure complete confidence in the investment, we carried out a dedicated second demonstration using Blas ar Fwyd’s own products. This allowed them to see first-hand how the flow wrapper could successfully wrap everything from delicate Welsh cakes and flapjacks to larger products such as meat pies, quiches, pasties, and tin loaves. The machine proved to be an ideal fit for their application, offering the versatility to run multiple product types while also accommodating perforated film for their savoury bakery lines. After seeing the results across their full product range, Blas ar Fwyd decided to proceed with the investment.
The Results
Since installation in 2016, the machine has become a dependable part of the Blas ar Fwyd production process. Over nearly a decade of continuous operation, it has wrapped thousands of bakery products while maintaining consistent pack quality across a varied product portfolio.
The reliability of the machine is highlighted by the fact that it has required only two service visits in ten years, demonstrating both the robustness of the equipment and its suitability for the demanding bakery environment. Today, the machine continues to support Blas ar Fwyd’s production needs, providing efficient, flexible, and reliable packaging for a broad range of traditional Welsh bakery products.
