Tanpopo Japanese Food Ltd is a UK manufacturer and supplier of Japanese food products, serving customers across the foodservice and retail sectors. As production volumes increased, Tanpopo required a reliable flow wrapping solution capable of handling products efficiently while maintaining presentation quality and traceability requirements.
The Challenge
Tanpopo’s products required a packaging system that could handle sticky food items without causing product contamination or build up on the conveyor belts. They also wanted to use printed film for branding purposes, which required accurate positioning of seals and cuts relative to the printed artwork. In addition, production demanded clear batch and date coding for traceability, while maintaining a packaging process that was simple for operators to run throughout the day.

The Solution
FDA Packaging supplied a FLEXWRAP flow wrapper configured for Tanpopo’s application. The machine uses an inverted film system to prevent sticky products from contaminating conveyor belts and was fitted with print registration to ensure accurate sealing and cutting on printed film. A Rotech batch and date coding system was also integrated to provide traceability information on every pack.
The Results
The FLEXWRAP machines have become a key part of Tanpopo’s packaging operation, running for several hours each day while requiring minimal intervention.
